Louisianas governor making a stop in Monroe today...putting his pen to paper -- signing into law a sweeping number of bills he says will safeguard children against predators.
Governor Bobby Jindal, speaking to a crowded room - saying sexual predators are 2nd only to murderers.
Jindal is now closing loopholes, that have gone unnoticed for decades.
Its been just weeks since union parish Sheriff Bob Buckley arrested Stephen Salsbury -- a former employee at the Caddo Parish Sheriffs Office.
For allegedly molesting boys in Union and Ouachita Parish.
And Buckley says the victims may not end there.
With his son by his side, Buckley says his 7 year old is the reason he came out to hear the governors plan.
A plan that promises to crack down on sex offenders.
In front of crowded room, the governor signed into law a slew of changes -- that he says will target the most egregious of crimes -- sexual crimes against children.
Sex offenders will now have to register for their entire life.
Minimum sentences for molesting a juvenile will be increased. And sentences will also increase for those who lure kids with a computer.
And the gray area of text messaging has been washed away.
All changes Buckley says is another step in protecting all children, including his own.
