Police swarming a Monroe neighborhood today after a woman is found unconscious in her home. Minutes later - she dies, and police say they have a mystery on their hands. A cloud of suspicion surrounds the mysterious death of a Monroe woman today. Police say only an autopsy will show whether her death is murder, or if she died from a long-time illness. It began as a frantic knock at Fred Wallaces door. when his neighbor Paul Jackson, told him "I think Carolyn is dead." Prompting him to call 911. Now a cloud of suspicion surrounds the death of Carolyn Thomas. A custodian at Robinson Elementary -- found unconscious by her boyfriend in their home this morning. "Thats my close friend she like an auntie to me," says Britteni Harris, a friend of Thomas. Crushing news to this 11 year old, who says Thomas was a friendly face at school and in the neighborhood. "They had thought she had died in her sleep, she had been sick for a long time". Friends say Thomas has been battling anemia for years -- a condition where the body loses excessive amounts of blood. Police are still thoroughly searching this house, because even though thomas was extremely sick, they have not ruled out foul play. "Well she could of died naturally or with some help, we dont know thats what we want to find out," says Major Don Bartley with the Monroe Police Department. Police say when Thomas arrived at the hospital -- workers noticed bruises on her body. But her live in boyfriend is not a suspect at this time. And as police continue to dig for clues... neighbors and friends search for answers, as they continue to cope with their loss.
