During the height of Isaac's wrath Thursday morning, Monroe police had another dangerous situation.
Police say a man led them on a chase into Lincoln Parish, and in the end, he was shot dead.
Around 2:30 a.m., an officer saw the man speeding in South Monroe.
"He was going to stop the guy for a traffic violation and the guy would not stop so that's where the chase started," says Tarra Smith of the Monroe City Police Department.
During the chase, the officer heard through dispatch that the suspect may have fired shots during a road rage incident on 165 South in front of the Shell gas station.
No one was hurt during the incident, but police believe it caused the suspect to flee and not stop for the traffic stop.
State police and the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's office joined the chase.
"Troopers were able to deploy spikes just inside Lincoln Parish on I-10 westbound," says Trooper Albert Paxton, Louisiana State Police.
But when the suspect rammed deputies, police shot and killed the man, fearing for their own safety.
Officers say they're happy no innocent bystanders were injured in the process.
"Anytime somebody has to die its bad, it's a tragedy no matter how it happens, you never want it to happen to anyone, but it could have been a lot worse," says Paxton.
Thursday evening, police released the name of the suspect.
He was 36-year-old James Hemphill of Sterlington.
