MONROE -- The Ouachita River has provided a fun summer for thousands of residents
but it hasn't done any favors for the cleanliness of the waters.
The Ouachita River is a part of what makes Louisiana a sportsman's paradise but trash along the shoreline, in the water and even in the trees-takes away from the beautiful river that separates the twin cities.
Organizations including the Army Corp of Engineers and Keep Monroe, West Monroe, and Ouachita Parish beautiful organized the 7th annual river sweep, and volunteers were out in full force pulling.
Thanks to a day full of hard work, the twin cities are a better place to live for friendly citizens, and scenic wildlife.
The wives of Duck Dynasty also helped picked up trash along the river. The River Sweep took place at locations across Sterlington, Monroe and West Monroe including Lazarre park, Forsythe park and Moon lake.
