Two Severely Burned After Oil Well Fire In Tensas Parish

TENSAS PARISH -- Two men are in the hospital after being severely burned from an oil well fire in Tensas Parish.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Buckhorn Wildlife Refuge near Highway 128.

According to the Tensas Parish Sheriff's Office, a crew from Chess Oil Company was closing a well there.

Vapors from the well were ignited by a truck that was running nearby, setting the well and truck on fire.
 
Two workers suffered severe burns and were airlifted to University Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. 

Tensas fire fighters were able to quickly put the truck fire out. The oil well burned itself out.

No other injures were reported.
