WEST MONROE -- The spirit of honoring our veterans is all around the city Wednesday, as folks in West Monroe took the time to celebrate the armed forces.
Hundreds of people packed the West Monroe Convention Center Wednesday morning, celebrating the annual USO Live Performance and Veteran's Breakfast.
A morning feast and presentation of colors by the West Monroe high school band honored vets from all of the armed forces.
"We have the old USO shows they enjoyed, have a lot of fun memories for them," said Jeanette Ellington, executive director of the West Ouachita Senior Center And honestly, we're in the midst of heroes, aren't we?"
The United Service Organization performance was by the local group, "Broadway Wannabe's." They brought back old memories performing as the Oak Ridge Boys, Gracie Burns, and Popeye.
All of the veterans were also served a full breakfast by elected officials.
