Monroe Police Investigate Animal Cruelty

Three pit bulls in south Monroe were seized by authorities Thursday after after a complaint from a concerned citizen. The resident of a home at 1306 Alabama Street, Nicole Sellers, now faces 2 charges of animal cruelty and a charge of aggravated animal cruelty.
Officers say they found 3 pit bulls at her residence on Alabama Street - 2 of them very malnourished and neglected. They were immediately taken in for medical care this afternoon by foster homes with people willing to nurse them back to health.
Among those in foster care is the white dog, who is in critical condition tonight at Cooper Veterinary Clinic. The brown dog is at Monroe Animal Hospital. Donations for their care can be made directly to the clinics. The other dog is at the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter tonight.
