Former Ouachita Parish Sheriff Royce Toney was sentenced today to six months home detention.
Toney plead guilty back in August to misdemeanor charges of accessing a protected computer, this after a two year investigation that lead to a 21 count felony indictment that included mail fraud, identity theft, computer fraud and obstruction. He was facing up to a year in prison.
Toney was also ordered to immediately pay a fine $15,000. He will also be on four years supervised probation.
Toney did address the court saying " I'm embarrassed, humiliated, and ashamed. And I do take full responsibility."
Part of the plea deal means Toney can never serve in law enforcement again.
