The report showed that El Dorado High School and Washington Middle School needs improvement while El Dorado's Yocum Elementary and Northwest Elementary schools are classified as achieving schools.

The report measures student performance on state assessments in three different ways: student achievement, student growth, and high school graduation rates.

The Arkansas Department of Education says that if a school misses its targets, that that doesn't make it a failing school. It just means school leaders and teachers need know which students are not making the grade and develop teaching and learning strategies that will help them succeed.

Today's report is from the 2011 assessment and is required by the United State Department of Education.
