Downtown El Dorado is swarming with shoppers taking advantage of the Black Friday sales at some of the local businesses and for shopper Addie Bowsanko she's shopping at the smaller stores mostly for sentimental reasons.
"I'm hoping to find things that are more personalized that get more bang for my buck and things especially here in downtown El Dorado. There's so many little stores here that once you look at them later on in life, you remember where you got them."
Some business owners are encouraging shoppers to shop locally to help build up El Dorado's economy.
"It means a lot to your local business owners. Our population has depleted somewhat so we kind of do need to keep things local. It's very important."
"The money that you spend locally goes directly to the business owners instead of the big corporations." "I think the money goes directly more to the community."
Now that Black Friday is coming to an end, small business owners reflect on what this time of the year means for them.
"This is the funnest time of the year. It's a lot of work, but it's always the most fun."
