Flu season is already here and experts at the Centers for Disease Control say this season could be one of the worst.
The Louisiana Department of a Health and Hospitals has kicked off its fight the flu campaign and to remind people of the importance of getting a flu shot.
Each year some 200 thousand people are hospitalized because of the flu.
Experts recommend that most people get vaccinated for the flu every year.
"It's important that you get the flu vaccine every year because the virus mutates each year and so the vaccine is specifically formulated each year to protect you from the strains of virus that you are most likely to come in contact with" said Dr. Shelley Jones with the Dept. of Health & Hospitals.
Experts strongly recommend those that are at a high risk of flu complications get vaccinated.
That includes children between the ages of 6 and 23 months, those 65 and older, woman who are pregnant and anyone with chronic health conditions between the ages of 2 to 64.
