UPDATE: One Shot and Killed in Attempted Robbery; Arrest Made

Update:

Monroe Police have made an arrest in connection with Tuesday's fatal shooting on Arlington Drive.
Arise Johnson is charged with illegal carrying of weapons in connection with the fatal shooting of 36-year old Johnny Cassey.

The affidavit says that Johnson was in possession of a Taurus .9mm hand gun, which is prohibited because Johnson is a convicted felon.

He has a previous conviction of armed robbery and is on parole for cocaine possession. He's in OCC with a $10,000 bond, according the OPSO website.

Police say the case remains under investigation.

Tuesday:

MONROE -- A person is shot and killed during an attempted armed robbery in Monroe.

Monroe police responded to 100 block of Arlington Drive in for an armed robbery around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. 

When officers arrived, they found that one person had been shot in the upper torso.  They were taken to the hospital where they died around 2:30 p.m.  Police say the man killed is 30-year-old Johnny T. Cassey of West Monroe.

Police told our crew on scene that the victim of the attempted robbery actually shot the robber.

Two people are being questioned by police to find out exactly what happened.  The investigation is ongoing. No arrest have been made at this time.
