Five New Applicants for Monroe Schools Superintendent Search

There are five new applicants for the Monroe City Schools
Superintendent's position, including former Monroe City School Board
Member Brenda Shelling and Dr. Tammye Turpin, the Chief Academic Officer
of the Monroe City School District.
The deadline to apply for the position is Friday.
Bishop Rodney McFarland, the Chairman of the Superintendent's Search Committee, tells NBC 10/Fox 14 that they received two applicants on Wednesday and three new applicants Thursday.
The other applicants are Brent Vidrine, principal of Neville High School, Mary Nash Robinson of Greenwood, and Dr. Mary Guinn of New Orleans.
The previous applicants include David Claxton, principal at Sallie Humble Elementary school in Monroe and retired educator Dr. Billye Burns of West Monroe.
Dr. Bonita Douzart of Shreveport, Dr. Charles Michel of Metairie, Susan Waller Mummert of Lakewood, California, Dr. Cassandra Barker-Carrand of Commerce City, Colorado, and Delma Flores from San Antonio, Texas.
The district is offering a starting salary of $130,000 to $150,000 and a one-year contract to qualified candidates.
