Grambling State University is asking for help to get its marching band to Washington D.C. to play in the 57th Presidential Inaugural Parade.
Grambling President Dr. Frank Pogue sent out a letter yesterday, asking for donations to be made to help cover the cost of paying for the band's trip to D.C.
In the letter Dr. Pogue said "We are extremely proud that our band was selected to participate in this historic event. Unfortunately, state funds cannot be used to support their trip. As the band will be serving as good-will ambassadors for not only the university, but also the surrounding communities, I am appealing to you to please make a financial contribution of any amount to the band's travel expenses."
Grambling performed at the last inauguration parade in 2009. This year's parade is scheduled for January 21, 2013.
