Our keynote speaker is human rights leader Rev. Dr. Ralph D. Abernathy, III. Born in the heat of the Civil Rights Movement, the eldest living son of Civil Rights leader Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Ralph David Abernathy, Sr. His father was a co-founder of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s chief aid and closest associate during the 1950's and 1960's.
Our speaker, Rev. Dr. Ralph D. Abernathy, III, participated in numerous marches and demonstrations, and even integrated his elementary school. He attended Benedict and Morehouse Colleges and majored in English and Political Science, and later served in the Georgia State Senate. Rev. Abernathy, III accepted his call into the ministry in 2001 at the historic West Hunter Street Baptist Church where his legendary father, pastored for 30 years.
