Gov. Bobby Jindal: Mental Health Records Should be a Factor in Buying Guns

In an effort to promote gun safety,
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said he's planning new laws when
it comes to mental health and buying guns.
Jindal wants the state to use mental health records and submit them to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.
The governor says people with mental health issues often slip through the cracks, and this is for their protection too.
The NICS database helps prevent people with a criminal history or severe mental health illness from purchasing firearms.
