NBC NEWS -- Good health news could be on the horizon for former President George H.W. Bush.
After more than a month in a Houston Hospital, Bush's spokesman says that hospital workers are hopeful he can be discharged this week.
The 41st president was admitted in late November for bronchitis, and stayed for treatment for a lingering cough and fever.
During an event on Saturday, his son, and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, told a crowd that he expected his father's release this week.
While hospitalized, the hospital spokesperson says President Bush watched lots of Texas football and had positive exchanges with doctors and nurses.
