Update: I-20 On Ramps Reopened; Monroe Bridges Reopened

From Monroe Police:
All roadways are open at this time. DOTD has applied sand and salt to the overpasses and bridges that were trouble spots.
The exit and entrance ramps to I-20 are also open at this time. The roadways will be routinely checked by officials and may be closed again as temperatures are expected to remain around the freezing mark throughout the day.
The Monroe City Traffic Engineering Department has left barricades at the base of some bridges and overpasses that are prone to freezing, in the event an immediate closure is determined.
Motorists are again urged to exercise extreme caution when travelling to ensure their safety.
7:30 a.m.
The Monroe Police Department have closed all exit and entrance ramps to I-20 within the City of Monroe due to ice accumulation.
The Garrett Road overpass is being closed, as well as Texas and Orange Street overpasses.
The Police Department has requested sand for those overpasses. As soon as the roadway is safe, they will be reopened.
Several crashes are currently being worked on I-20 and US 165.
Motorists are urged to avoid these areas and exercise caution on the roadway. Updates will follow as our office is notified.
