UPDATE: Monroe Vandalism Suspect Surrenders to Police

MONROE -- Monroe Police detectives have obtained an arrest warrant and arrested the man behind the Christmas Eve vandalism spree in Monroe.
Mabry Mitchell "Mitch" McFarland, 53, was arrested by police on Monday for three felony counts of Criminal Damage to Property and five counts of misdemeanor Damage to Property in connection with the spray painted eight buildings and churches on Christmas Eve.
McFarland was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center.
In the Christmas Eve incident, the vandal spray painted bright red X's on the buildings, followed by an obscenity in some cases.
Several buildings were struck by the vandalism, including churches and businesses, as well as two local media buildings. The churches include First Baptist Church and St. Matthews Catholic Church in downtown.
