Final Vote Expected Tonight on Monroe Sewer Rates

The Monroe City Council is expected to have a final vote tonight on the new sewer rates.
As of January 1, residents living in Monroe city limits started paying $3.55 for water per one thousand gallons. Those living outside the city limits in the parish costs $5.33.
Council members say they are not opposed to the sewer rate increase, just the automatic increase that was apart of it.
Some council members want to rescind the ordinance all together and come back with just a rate increase, without the automatic increases for the following years.
