Monroe Police officers were conducting a safety checkpoint in the 4200 block of Elm Street in Monroe. Officers came in contact with Keithen D. Johnson. Johnson could not produce a driver's license and sped away from the checkpoint. Officers pursued Johnson throughout the East-side of Monroe.
Johnson drove recklessly by disregarding several red lights and stop signs and driving through business parking lots. Johnson stopped his 2004 Chevrolet in the 1800 block of Filhoil Street and attempted to flee on foot. Officers quickly caught up with Johnson, but he resisted arrest. Officers used a Taser to safely subdue Johnson.
Johnson was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center for Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway of Commerce, No Proof of Insurance, No Driver's License, Resisting Arrest, and Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution
