Gun rights dominate the discussion at the state legislature.
The tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School has stirred a vigorous debate here in Arkansas.
Last week a bill to allow guns in church was filed, on Wednesday it ran into some opposition in committee.
Senator Bryan King is the sponsor of the church protection act.
It gives churches the right to decide for themselves if members can conceal carry.
The bill was presented today in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
But Senator Stephanie Flowers wanted to amend the measure, making churches who allowed guns carry $100,000 in liability insurance.
King didn't approve of Flowers amendment, saying it probably raised constitutional issues regarding the separation of church and state.
But Flowers said she was simply trying to improve the bill.
The committee killed Senator Flower's amendment and approved the church carry bill.
It now goes to the full senate.
