For many of the folks from Arkansas, it was their first time ever visiting our nation's capitol and the sights and sounds from President Obama's Inauguration made it all worth it.

"All men were created equal and that they were endowed by their creator."

Men and women boys and girls from all races were united in sharing the momentous occasion of watching the nation's first black president being sworn into office for a second time on what happened to be Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

"Who would have known that this moment would have happened and come together like that on this day so that's entirely fitting."

"Ebenezer Baptist Church and the pastor tied the sermon in on how it was just destiny for things to happen like it did."

"This is something I'll always remember yeh just the excitement in the city, the build up of it over the past few weeks has been really amazing."

And after the inauguration wrapped up, the day was just getting started for the King Commission. The group celebrated the day with their own ball that evening and some members from the El Dorado Chapter, took time away from the dance floor to reflect on the experience.

"I was glad to be in the middle of it all. It was a very emotional time it really was."

"When Ms. Evers did the invocation, I got a little emotional. It just seemed like everything just kind of came together to culminate what an awesome day."

And Arkansas United States Senator Mark Pryor was in attendance at the MLK ball to enjoy the event with his constituents.

"It was so great to be here. You had over 300 Arkansans that came up on busses in this big group with Martin Luther King Commission so it's just great to see everybody and great to be with everybody."

As the night wore on, the dance floor heated and Dr. King's legacy illumined the room with folks dancing well into the night to mark a historic day.
