LA SALLE PARISH -- On Saturday, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Grayson.
Troopers responded to the crash around 1:30 p.m., which occurred on Big Bend Road in LaSalle Parish.
The crash involved a 2004 Kenworth, driven by 40-year old Christopher W. Travis. The Kenworth was southbound on Big Bend Road when Travis lost control and exited the left side of the roadway.
After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree causing the cargo on the truck -- logs -- to shift forward and crush the cab.
Travis was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police want to remind and inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash.
Troop E Troopers have investigated one fatal crash in 2013, resulting in one fatality.
