The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Moderate Risk for severe weather for the entire viewing area for tomorrow (Tuesday) into early Wednesday morning.  This is only the fifth time in the last 15 years that a Moderate Risk has been issued a day in advance in the month of January.

A very strong upper-level storm system and its accompanying cold front are expected to move into the southern United States tomorrow afternoon.  Given the high amounts of moisture and near record-setting temperatures that are expected, the atmosphere will be unstable enough to trigger rapidly developing thunderstorms tomorrow evening.

The primary concerns with this storm system, given the strong winds in the low levels, will be the potential for significant, damaging winds and embedded tornadoes along a squall line that will develop later in the night.  Some parameters could also strengthen later in the night which would increase the threat for tornadoes during the overnight hours.

Severe thunderstorms are always dangerous, particularly at night.  Stay alert to rapidly changing weather conditions.  As always, "like" our weather Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/malmwx) for continuous updates.
