Exclusive video of a bus driver running a stop sign with children on board. Now a Ouachita Parish parent says that driver should be fired.
"She doesn't slow down, she just zooms right on through the curve and the stop sign," says mother Summer Elee. She says watching the bus run a stop sign is a scary sight.
"I feel like my children are on a ticking time bomb," says Elee.
Her fianc shot the cell phone video Friday afternoon, after Elee says her complaints to the Ouachita Parish School District ran out of gas.
"Nothing is being done about it," she says.
But now the cell phone footage is accelerating the district's concern.
"It's pretty hard to deny or argue with a video when you see a bus driving unsafely," says Ouachita Parish Superintendent Dr. Bob Webber. He says complaints against bus drivers is a serious matter.
"Nowadays we just have to do that to ensure the safety of our children," says Webber.
And while he can't say specifically how the driver was reprimanded because it is a personnel issue, he says the situation has been dealt with appropriately.
"That driver would be written up and, of course, dealt with accordingly. And again anywhere from just a write up, to suspension, to going to classes to retrain and even termination if it called for it," says Webber.
But for Elee anything less than an emergency break being pulled on this driver's career, is not enough.
"They are not riding the bus until she is no longer driving any kids. Not just my children, but any children that ride the bus," she says.
Elee did say the driver was not behind the wheel Monday afternoon.
