Update: Victim Identified in Fatal Hit and Run

Monroe Police have identified the woman killed in an a hit and run on Tuesday night.
Her name is Althea Thomas of Monroe. She was 49 years-old. Police say at this point they are running down leads to help in the investigation.
MONROE -- Monroe Police are investigating a fatal hit and run that happened Tuesday night.
Just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night, police responded to a person lying in the roadway on U.S. 165.
Police found a black female on the roadway.

Monroe Police Traffic Division and Crime Scene Unit are
investigating this incident. Two citizens who found the victim were interviewed,
however there were no witnesses to the crash.
At this time, no suspect or vehicle information is known. The victim name is not being released at this time pending notification of relatives.
