Update: Rayville Council Votes to Fire Public Works Director

Rayville Public Works Director Lorenzo Brown is out of a job after the town council voted to fire him Monday night.

The vote was 5-0 in favor of firing Brown.

Rayville Mayor Harry Lewis suspended Brown last month without pay and recommended to the council that Brown be fired.

Brown is accused in a 24 count indictment of using Department of Corrections inmates on work release to provide work for more than a dozen private businesses between September of 2009 and late 2010. He is facing 24-counts of malfeasance in office.

Brown is out on bond and his arraignment is set for April 3rd at 9:30a at the Richland Parish Courthouse in Rayville.

Rayville Public Works Director Lorenzo Brown is suspended without pay, according to Mayor Harry Lewis. This after Brown was arrested and slapped with a 24-count indictment this week.

According to the indictment, Brown is accused of using Department of Corrections inmate on work release to provide work for more than a dozen private businesses between September of 2009 and late 2010. He is facing 24-counts of malfeasance in office.

Mayor Lewis says Brown will be suspended without pay until the Board of Alderman meets on February 11th at 6 p.m. Only the Board of Alderman can take any further action.

Brown is out on bond and his arraignment is set for April 3rd.
