A community is breathing a little easier after police say they caught the man responsible for a string off assaults in Monroe.
In a press conference Thursday, Monroe and ULM police officially announced they've found the man they had been looking for.
Mark Johnson from Monroe Police says, "We've searched 24 hours-a-day. It's been an all hands on deck effort to make sure the person who is responsible for the crime is off the street."
Police say victims identified, 34 year old Terresz .L Robinson as their attacker, after police provided them with a lineup of suspects. Robinson is being accused off sexually assaulting at gunpoint two women, and trying to do so to another.
"We have no indication that he knew any of them, and it all seems to be random attacks," says Johnson.
On January 18th, a ULM student was abducted outside of Hemphill Hall and assaulted off campus. Eight days later, the next victim attacked on Blanks Street in Monroe.
And Wednesday, another attack happened in the Pecanland Mall parking lot. She fought off the attacker, but says Robinson drove off with her car. Police arrested Robinson after he led them on a car and foot chase.
"It made me scared to go out," says Jalisa Wilhite attends Delta Community college.
Thanks to recent attacks, she has spent nearly two weeks, being extra cautious.
"Have my eyes on everything and make sure my surroundings are good," says Wilhite.
Police officer Charlie Davis, is speaking to students like Wilhite. Davis says, you must be alert at all times, and just because this suspect is off the streets doesn't mean he will be the last.
"Just because there's one guy arrested doesn't mean there are others unfortunately there are others looking for victims," says Davis.
ULM President Dr. Nick Bruno says the announcement is a huge relief for campus and the community.
"This is a relief. That is guy is off the streets. It's unfortunate and I want to remind everyone that campus continues to do everything it can do so it can be as safe as possible. We've go over 800 campuses and available escorts," say Bruno
Security has been stepped up around campus and added security measures will be in place in the future.
Robinson is facing attempted second degree kidnapping and kidnapping charges as well as two counts of forcible rape. The district attorney's office will likely present the case to a grand jury in the next few weeks. Bond for Robinson is set at three million dollars.
