Business owner Scott Hunter is getting the chance of a lifetime
"I'm very, very excited. Our cupcakes are going to be on a national stage."
A chance to showcase his cupcakes Sunday during the official NFL tailgate party.
"This is not only a national event, but it's a worldwide event; and our cupcakes will be part of the celebration and we're so honored that the NFL chose us to be part of it."
Sweets and eats opened its door a year ago on Bullard Avenue in New Orleans east, specializing in cupcakes, pralines, traditional cakes, and other pastries. The 32-year-old New Orleans native said he was delighted when he got the call to bake more than 2,000 cupcakes for the official NFL.
"Our kind of business we need word of mouth, and the best way to have word of mouth is having people taste your products."
The business currently has 30 flavors. After a sampling, 3 signature flavors were chosen.
"We have a Mardi Gras wedding cake cupcake, a sweet praline cupcake, and a bananas foster cupcake."
Hunter says as a small business owner, the opportunity is ... what else? ... super. An opportunity he and his small staff welcome as they prepare to fill their biggest order yet.
"Yah, we're going to be up baking all Saturday, so everything is fresh and delicious on Sunday. So, we're going to be working around the clock until Super Bowl Sunday."
"You ready?"
"I'm very ready. I'm pumped."
Hunter says he's still not sure how the N-F-L found his bakery ... but says the tasting of his cupcakes sealed the deal.
