MONROE - The local community celebrated the Go Red for Women campaign on Friday.
The American Heart Association and St. Francis Medical Center hosted an educational lunch and learn seminar on women and ways to prevent heart disease.
Cardiologist Dr. Marc Saad was present during the luncheon to help educate the community on the different types of treatment women can receive for heart disease and why he feels it is important to be knowledgeable of the illness.
Dr. Saad says women who are non smokers and maintain a health diet are less likely to be diagnosed with heart disease.
