MOREHOUSE PARISH -- With an estimated total of more than 7.6 million dollars; the new required common core curriculum will students in Louisiana public schools to complete their state testing online.

However, local school boards say these changes will place a financial burden on the districts if the state does not provide support.

The school board finance committee quoted a 1.9 million dollar total for updated internet service and a 5.9 million dollar total for upgraded computers.

In December of last year, voters denied the Morehouse Parish school board a 2.6 million dollar proposal advance from the state to complete renovations.

Superintendent Dr. George Noflin says not having these funds will hurt the development of the district.

Dr. Noflin says the district will continue to seek grants from the state to help finance these changes.
