Grambling State University: Distinguished Leadership Luncheon

Grambling State University President Frank G. Pogue will officially rename the university's football stadium, name a building and name the 157-acre campus acquired from the state of Louisiana in 2012.
The official namings will take place as a part of the second annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Distinguished Leadership Awards Luncheon at 11 a.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 5) in the Black and Gold Room in the university's Student Union.
The Grambling State University West Campus Annex will officially be named "Grambling State University West Campus: R.W.E. Jones Annex" in honor of the institution's longest serving president, Ralph Waldo Emerson Jones, who served from 1936 until 1977.
The university president's home has carried no name, and it will become "Johnson Place," in honor of the late Lula Young Johnson, a Grambling alum and the wife of the university's third president, Joseph B. Johnson. The Johnsons were the first residents in the 4,940-square-foot home, built in 1984. President Johnson served from 1977 until 1991.
A building attached to the Washington-Johnson Complex, which houses KGRM-FM (91.5), will become the "Allen Williams Annex" in honor of the late Allen Williams, former chair of the Department of Speech and Theatre at Grambling State.
In addition, Pogue will officially rename Robinson Stadium as the "Eddie G. Robinson Stadium," recognizing Edward G. Robinson, the winningest football coach in Division I university football history. Robinson coached Grambling State's football team for 57 years, from 1941 until 1997.
