El Dorado Residents React to No Mail on Saturdays

EL DORADO, AR -- Some folks in El Dorado aren't welcoming the news that Saturday mail delivery will be coming to an end this summer.

"I will miss my Saturday delivery; I will miss my magazines that come in on Saturday," said resident Sylvia Thompson.

"Mail on Saturday help a lot of people and it would be convenient," said resident David Lockett.

While this upcoming change won't affect packages being delivered on Saturdays, some say they will still have to adapt to not getting their mail on Saturday.

"I'll make adjustments. I mean you know if they close on Saturday, I'll just have to make adjustments," said Lockett.

"Saturday is kind of a day that you get your mail and go through it and kind of relax and enjoy it as opposed to most days, your kind of hurrying through it so it may change up my Saturday mornings a little bit and I'll assume we'll probably get a lot more mail on Mondays," said Thompson.

Arkansas United States Senator John Boozman released a statement saying that he was disappointed that changes had to be made to the United States delivery service.

The good news for those who have PO boxes is that their service will not change; however that wasn't an incentive for some to start renting PO boxes.

"Probably not, the home delivery is just really, really nice," said Thompson.

"I don't have that kind of mail coming so I won't go and get one," said Lockett.

The end of Saturday mail delivery will stop the week of August 5th.
