A federal judge has agreed to cut short former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards' court supervision following his release from prison.
Edwards was sentenced to 3 years of supervised release.
That lasted about 18 months -- as a U.S. district judge agreed to end it early.
Edwards served 8 years in federal prison and 6 months of home detention after he was convicted in 2000 for his role in a riverboat casino licensing scandal.
Prosecutors and probation officials did not object to the 85 year old's request.
A reality television show about Edwards and his wife Trina is scheduled to debut later this month.
