EL DORADO -- About 50 kids gathered in Parkers Chapel to participate in clay target shooting and a BB gun target range in a fun and safe environment held by the National Wild Turkey Federation and Delta Waterfowl.
While some kids practiced clay target shooting, there was another group of kids that learned about duck and turkey hunting.
The goal for those kids was to build 100 wood duck boxes to be given throughout South Arkansas.
Officials of the event say they want the kids to learn about shooting safely while having a good time.
"Getting kids involved in conservation and shooting sports and just all in all having a lot of fun."
There will be a National Wild Turkey Federation and Delta Waterfowl banquet in El Dorado coming up on March 30 to raise money for future youth events.
