CNN -- Love can be hard on the bank account, especially for men.
Americans will spend an estimated $18.6 billion on Valentine's candy, flowers, jewelry and gifts this year.
That's about $131 a person, up five-dollars from last year, according to the National Retail Foundation.
And there seems to be a gender divide because men will fork out twice as much as the ladies.
If those numbers give you sticker shock, take some advice from the Nest.com and try spending time rather than money on your relationship.
