ALEXANDRIA, LA -- Some scary moments for a Pepsi truck driver left dangling off the side of a Louisiana highway.

The driver of an 18-wheeler Pepsi truck has been hospitalized and cited for an accident in which his truck dangled over the edge of an Alexandria overpass Monday morning.

According to police, officers were called to the scene around 7 a.m. To investigate the crash involving a truck owned by Bern Transportation out of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Investigators say the truck was traveling southbound on Interstate 49.

While making an exit, police say the truck impacted the guard rail, which caused the truck to jump the rail.

The accident shut down the interstate for about two hours, investigators say.

The driver, 30-year old Charles Jones of Alexandria, was transported to a local hospital for moderate injuries.

Officers say he was also cited for one count of failure to maintain control of a vehicle.
