Monroe City Councilwoman Betty Blakes wants city residents to be able to vote for term limits for future city council and mayoral elections.
An ordinance will be introduced at tonight's city council meeting that will limit council members and the mayor to only three consecutive terms. If approved this ordinance would not include this current term.
Another ordinance being introduce calls for the Monroe City Council to have its own legal representation, separate from Monroe City Attorney Nancy Summersgil.
The council will also vote on a resolution that calls for an end of having the mayor's approval on all appointments made by the council.
