COLUMBIA -- Slyvia Quaid is the mother of 19-year old Mallory Fatherree, a Columbia resident and one of the 4,200 passengers aboard the carnival cruise ship stranded in the Gulf of Mexico.

The ship better known as Triumph set out on a four day cruise last Thursday and was scheduled to return yesterday but those plans changed after an early morning engine fire on Sunday.

Mallory is with eighteen of her co-workers and have been given food following a brief interruption in water and power services for passengers.

Her mother says the position of the ship is now the threat passengers are faced with.

The triumph carnival cruise ship is currently being pulled four to six miles an hour by a tug scheduled to arrive in Mobile, Alabama on Thursday.
