WEST MONROE -- Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Deputies say they've arrested two people in connection with a bank robbery in West Monroe.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Trust Bank on Cypress Street near Wallace Road.
Detectives say the suspects got in through a window in the back of the bank.
The bank was closed at the time, employees were still inside the bank closing up when the robbery happened. OPSO deputies say the employees quickly locked themselves inside a bank vault and called 9-1-1.
Police say several witnesses were able to give a description of the suspect's vehicle, a maroon pickup truck.
The suspects were caught just up the road in the parking lot of a shopping center. Police say money was taken, but it's unknown how much money.
Our crew on the scene reported seeing black bags filled with what looked to be cash, and a gas mask was on the ground next to the truck.
No injuries were reported.
Sheriff Jay Russell says he doesn't believe anymore suspects were involved. He added the two suspects did not resist while being arrested.
Louisiana State Police and the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office are investigating the case. Crime scene specialist are at both crime locations -- the bank and the shopping center parking lot -- working the details behind the robbery.
