WEST MONROE - Three litter abatement agencies in Ouachita Parish have partnered together to announce the kickoff date to the Great American Cleanup.
Keep Ouachita Parish Beautiful, Keep Monroe Beautiful and Keep West Monroe Beautiful, all affiliates of Keep Louisiana Beautiful, have announced they will host the kickoff to the Great American Cleanup on Saturday, March 9.
The Great American Cleanup is the nation's largest annual community improvement program. Activities include picking up litter, planting trees and flowers, recycling drives and educational programs.
On that day, the Ouachita Parish community is encouraged to take part in keeping the region clean and litter free by participating in a number of community-wide cleanups and beautification projects.
All three litter abatement agencies have received grants from Keep Louisiana Beautiful. A portion of these grant funds will be used for supplies and materials for volunteers during the cleanup.
Volunteers are being sought to participate in the Great American Cleanup. Residents, businesses, churches, civic and school groups are all encouraged to take part in local cleanup and beautification efforts.
