South Arkansas School Gets National Recognition

Crossett Middle School packed the city's auditorium to be recognized as a Diamond School to Watch-a national award. To celebrate the occasion, the school's choir and band performed. School officials also spoke highly of the students and staff's achievement. It's something the community also gathered for.
"This is a great honor; it recognizes the great teaching that's been going on here, but beyond that not only just for our school, but for our whole community this is a boost."
The honor means that Crossett Middle School is 1 of 13 Arkansas schools to be recognized as one of the nation's high performing middle schools and it highlights their achievements so other schools might benefit from their example. The school was evaluated by a nationally trained team of evaluators with extensive expertise in middle level education.
"We have great kids. They do a lot of really great things. They've worked hard to improve their learning and their skills. They've demonstrated that on their state tests throughout the last three years that I've been here."
Crossett Middle School is 1 of 61 schools across the nation that is designated as one of the schools to watch and they will be nationally recognized in Washington, D.C. in June.
