"Walk Where the Wildlife Walks" at Black Bayou Lake

OUACHITA PARISH -- In celebration of spring and the 110th anniversary of the National Wildlife Refuge System, Black Bayou Lake NWR is hosting its fourth annual trails event, "Walk Where the Wildlife Walks", on March 9th from 9 a.m. to noon.
Family oriented activities will include guided walks, Black Bayou Lake Scavenger Hunt (find only); discovery packs with an activity sheet. Children can also enjoy the Wildlife Challenge Trail.
The Visitor Center and the Conservation Learning Center with live exhibits will be open.
Scheduled activities include:
9:00 AM -- Guided Canoe Trip on the lake - limit is 16 and preregistration is required. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Call the visitor center to register.
9, 10, and 11 AM - Guided Nature Walks
11:00 AM - Walk with the Ranger - A longer 5K walk, bring a lunch or snack and enjoy the Edgewater Trail.
All activities will meet at the Visitor Center and are free. The event is free and families, youth groups and individuals are welcome.
