OUACHITA PARISH -- The ever climbing price of gas is beginning to take a toll on local school districts.
The Ouachita Parish School District is currently paying $3.75 cents a gallon for gas and diesel for its fleet of busses.
At the start of the year, the price was $3.62.
Dr. Bob Webber says at this rate, it's going to add to the district's costs.
"So at this rate, remainder of the year through May, it'll cost us an additional $12,000 just for fuel costs for our buses," he said.
Dr. Webber said if the fuel prices stay the same next year that will cost the district another $35,000.
