Financial Aid season is swiftly approaching again, and interested
students will need to get aid requests filed as early as possible for
the best chance at receiving federal aid.
Louisiana Delta Community College will host College Goal Sunday on February 24 from 2-4 p.m.
The goal of the event is to assist students with filling out their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) forms. Students can come out and get answers about the financial aid process and get free on-site professional assistance to complete the FAFSA.
Financial aid professionals will be available to talk about financial aid resources and how to apply. Information regarding state-wide student services, admissions requirements and more will also be available. Students will need to have their social security and driver's license numbers, as well as proof of Food Stamps (SNAP) benefits received during the last two calendar years, if any. For those who have paid or received child support during 2012, appropriate documentation is needed. Also, untaxed income records for 2012 including social security, temporary Assistance to Need Families, welfare and Veteran's benefits. Students will also need to bring documentation of permanent U.S. residency or proof of eligible non-citizenship.
College Goal Sunday participants are not required to apply to Delta. The event is an effort to assist students attending any of the local universities, and Delta is serving as the common ground for all area students seeking federal aid. Personnel from various area high schools and universities will be on site to assist with questions and the financial aid application process. Parents are encouraged to attend and participate.
