Minnie Ruffin Elementary Lock Down

The Monroe Police Department responded to a reported intruder and school lock down incident at Minnie Ruffin Elementary located near Wossman High School.
Initial investigation revealed that a dispute over a theft between two men took place near the rear of the elementary school. 
One of the men is related to a school employee and fled inside the school while being chased by another subject armed with a machete. 
The subject armed with the machete left the weapon outside the doors of the school and went inside the school. 
The subjects were confronted by school personnel and fled the school after being inside for approximately four minutes. 

The elementary school initiated lock down procedures and notified police.  The elementary school then notified Wossman High School of the actions they had taken and a precautionary lock down was initiated at the high school. 

Monroe Police responded immediately and searched the surrounding area.  The suspects were unable to be located. 

School surveillance camera's captured the incident and the investigation is pending.  The identity of the suspect armed with the machete is not known at this time.
