OUACHITA PARISH -- A man is in jail, accused of attempted second-degree murder and attempted armed robbery charges in Ouachita Parish.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a 911 call early Tuesday of a gunshot victim.

Deputies used GPS location on the cellphone call and found the victim and suspect, 33-year old Frederick Jones, on Highway 594 past Frontage Road. Police say the victim was transported to St. Francis Medical Center for a gunshot wound to the mouth, condition is unknown.

The arrest report says the victim told deputies that he and Jones went to a location off Frontage Road. Police say once at the location, Jones pulled out a weapon and forced the victim out of the car.

The report says Jones told the victim to give him all of his money, but the victim did not have any. The report says Jones then shot the victim in the face.

Police say Jones put the victim in the car and told him he was going to take him to the hospital, but Jones drove the vehicle in a direction away from the hospital.

The report says the victim feared Jones was going to "dump him in the woods," so the victim jumped from the moving vehicle. Police say at some point during the next few moments, Jones ran over the victim causing injuries to his legs.

Jones attempted to flee but wrecked the vehicle. Police say as Jones got out of the vehicle, the victim armed himself with a stick for protection. Jones told the victim to tell police that someone else shot him.

Jones is in Ouachita Correctional Center with no bond set.
