There's a new tool to help in the fight against littering. Keep West Monroe Beautiful handed out a new book to second graders at Highland Elementary School.
The book is called "The Quad Squad In: Be Smart...Do Your Part". It teaches kids the importance of not littering and conservation.
Organizers say keeping the community litter free is important for economic development.
"From a business stand point having a clean and litter free community is absolutely essential to positive economic development when we are looking at trying to recruit new businesses, new visitors and residents" said Courtney Hornsby
The book will be distributed to all second graders in West Monroe. The Great American Cleanup is set for Saturday, March 9th.
