WEST MONROE -- A man is in jail for assaulting another man over an ex-girlfriend.
On Saturday, officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Cypress street in reference to an armed person, 23-year old Allen Taylor.
The police report says Taylor was at a business there due to an argument with a former girlfriend and her current boyfriend. Taylor walked in and started an argument with her and then walked outside to confront the boyfriend.
The report says Taylor approached the boyfriend, pulled out a handgun, and put the muzzle of the firearm on his head. The report quotes Talor as saying he, "always keeps a loaded pistol."
Taylor then fled the scene in a white truck. Police say when West Monroe police tried to pull him over, Taylor fled from the truck on foot.
The report says while Taylor was running, he dropped the firearm, picked it back up and threw it to avoid being in possession of it.
Police say the suspect's gun contained an obliterated serial number.
Taylor was caught by police. Police say he admitted to his crimes. The report says he told police he bought the firearm from a friend in Monroe several days before, despite knowing it was illegal to have it.
He was booked into OCC for aggravated assault, resisting an officer by flight, and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
His bond is set at just over $18,000.
